The hike up to the refuge at Urriellu Peak is fairly demanding due to the overall ascent, about 900 metres, but the impressive views of this famous summit make the effort worth your while.
Urriellu’s vertical limestone walls and distinctive silhouette have made it a mecca for both hikers and world-class climbers. The peak’s 70+ climbing routes include “Orbayu,” considered one of the most difficult free climbing routes in the world.
Urriellu Peak is also known as the “Naranjo de Bulnes,” a name which allegedly refers to the orange glow the summit takes on at sunset.
